Now it seems rest areas all over the country are being shut down for the most powerful reason of all - money. Yup. No matter how ridiculous subtle reasoning may be, all it takes is for one politician to scream out "budget" and they've found a rock-solid argument to close or do away with our rest areas.
I happened to be channel surfing last week when I saw the story on "The Daily Buzz" (a morning show that comes on around the same time as the "Today" show and "Good Morning America". )
After they mentioned a variety of reasons why rest areas were closing all over the U.S., they finally mentioned the money angle. What a shame.
I see travel plazas replacing the rest areas because they make the state more money, they make the business owners more money, and as long as we can squeeze a few dollars out of John Q. Public's unemployed wallet, why not go for it?

November 2009
If you have (or had) a birthday this month, I hope you enjoy your special day and make it a memorable one. Have fun, do something for yourself, and keep your friends and loved ones close to your heart.
What's going on in the truckchasing scene? Things have slowed down here at headquarters due to my health problems. In case you didn't know, in a matter of months, I got hit hard by diabetes and all sorts of complications from this unbelievable disease. What started as a bruise on my right hand from using power tools, quickly turned into a week-long hospital visit to have a dead chunk of flesh from inside my hand removed. (The bruise got infected, and wouldn't heal.)
The difficult part to this point has been learning to use my right hand again. Being right-handed made it all that difficult. I had to learn to write again, to draw, to type, etc. I should have made more of an effort to be ambidextrous. But, hey - hindsight bla bla bla.
Now I'm still fighting with my diabetes and it's resulted in a domino effect with the rest of my body. I've developed serious acid reflux that made me drop 25 pounds of mostly muscle mass. I keep getting this nasty thrush in my throat, that my doctor says is all due to my diabetes. He says once I get my numbers under control, all my ailments will resolve themselves.
But enough of my problems. I just wanted to give you guys an update.
Happy November, and please let me hear from you. Leave a comment or send me an email.

Reminiscing
Do you remember driving out to a truck parking lot for a chance to meet truckers?
Do you remember having to speak to truckers face to face?
Do you remember sneaking in the bushes without cellphones?
Now you can chase truckers from your sofa on your notebook computer, or from Dunkin Donuts on your Blackberry. So much for the thrill of the chase.

Out of (str8) Sight, Out of (str8) Mind
Then there was the Sunday school teacher who killed a little girl and is being investigated for possible messing around with other little girls.
And locally, we've had people shooting each other in alleys for who-knows-what reasons. (Straight, also.)
So while this may seem petty and a bit "out there," I'm just glad the ever judgmental spotlight of our fair and just media is fallen on the morally upright and socially admirable people who align themselves with society's righteous.
It just makes me want to go jaywalking.
:)
Twittering?
It's like letting the world know what you're doing in case anyone was wondering. Haven't tried it yet? It's fun, actually. You can follow what your buddies are doing. If you get bored, you can send a text and let everyone know what YOU are doing at that moment.
I like it because it's safe, it's simple, and it keeps you from getting bored if you're stuck somewhere with nothing to do but use your cellphone to text.
Let me know if you guys try it. It's a great way to keep in touch.

Happy Good Easter Monday Blah..
Strange how Easter doesn't mean much once you're grown up. By then you're tired of all the sugar, and you start to wonder where in the Bible they had a Saint Peter Rabbit... hmmm...

Shouting Anonymously
€
Never post in all capital letters. That's called shouting. It is rude, it makes you look bad, it will get you ignored and your comments will be instantly deleted without being read.
€
Comments left anonymously carry little to no weight. They just mean you're too scared to leave your Web name, or you're too lazy to set up a profile.
€
Issues with pictures need to be fixed at the source.
Blogger uses a slideshow that gets its photos from Yahoo's FlickR if they've been tagged as public.
Unfortunately, I have no control over the content automatically loaded to the slideshow. Otherwise, I would pick better photos to showcase.

Asian, Older, & Hairy?
Have you seen any older hairy Asian guys in porn? If you have, let me know where!
Older guys in general get me going. But lately, I've been surfing the web and (like a total pervert) been drooling at some Asian porn box covers posted out there. On these box covers, you never get to see a guy's genitals because they always get blurred out. (Even in their art!) But they don't have a problem showing a dildo being shoved up a guy's ass. (Cause I guess that's not pornographic.)
Whatever the reasoning, I just love the face shots they show of these guys. Some are dressed in three-piece suits, others are just posing. But then you see them getting fucked, sucked, or whatever it is they do in the video. Too hot!

New Age of Chasing Truckers
The old days of chasing truckers are just about gone. My old school buddies tell me about old, cruisy parking areas they used to score at. They tell me about gas stations with open outdoor showers for truckers, and they tell me about CB cruising techniques of yesteryear that always got them trucker cock. I feel jealous that I didn't get to experience much of that. It would have been great to cruise so easily like that. Times were simpler, the world was a better place. Not anymore.
Nowadays its cellphones, laptops, text messages, GPS, and countless other electronic advances that have killed old-school TruckChasing. The second you try to cruise out there, you're going to get an updated dose of technology and unwanted attention.
In fact, if you still know of a hotspot for cruising truckers, keep it to yourself! If you share your hidden treasure with the internet masses, odds are it will get too much attention and will quickly get shut down. You'll soon see your goldmine replaced by some mini-mall travel center with surveillance cameras. (But you can drop me a line to share your adventures with me, though! I don't post locations. )
That was always my beef with setting up a "cruisy areas" section on truckchaser.com. I saw several places shut down after cruising sites put them on their lists and made them popular. In essence, the webmaster sold the place out because he got money for that listing, but the cruisy area was shut down and the rest of us got screwed over. Thanks a lot!
I think its up to us now to revamp the new art of chasing truckers. We have to find a way of using all this technology to hook up without being stuck at home on a computer, or without having to lug around a laptop. Chasing truckers is still best done out on the road in the real world, but now we have cooler toys to help us with the chase.
Now bear in mind that with new cruising toys come new cruising risks. While we're out using our cellphones to get laid, we should be aware of newer and modern risks. I can go into lots more detail here, so let me know if you're interested in hearing more.

Modern Truck Sleepers
I like the old, dark, cramped, musky sleepers that were perfect for crawling into before blowing a nice trucker daddy like this one. What do you think? Let me know!

Rest areas closing!
Closing: northbound I81 rest stops at Radford & Ironto, and southbound ones at Troutville & Radford.
